The All-American Rejects showed up and showed out at Vans Warped Tour Long Beach on July 27. The “Dirty Little Secret” artists were introduced to the stage by surprise guest Skeet Ulrich (in character as Ed Sullivan). Playing hits such as “Swing, Swing” all the way to “Sweat,” the quartet also took a moment to mourn the loss of Ozzy Osbourne and play an acoustic cover of “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”
Frontman Tyson Ritter says, “The world lost a legend this week, man, Ozzy fucking Osbourne. The Prince Of Darkness. Informed a lot of these bands on this stage, pretty sure it informed something about us. That man on the drums hits his cans because Black Sabbath scared the shit outta him and made him wanna hit some pig skins with ‘War Pigs.'”
Ritter adds, “On Saturday, I saw Ozzy’s son Jack in a human setting, and then I realized, the world lost a God with a divine touch. He had something that came through him that changed the world…but this guy, Jack, lost his dad. He was a father and he was a grandfather and he was a fucking human being.”
He concludes, “So this goes out to his family, the people that survived a man, a father, and a grandfather, a great human being.”
